What is your most popular dish/ fish on your menu with your regulars?
Haddock! Since we’ve won the best takeaway people have been coming from further afield but we’re still over 90% haddock.
In your opinion why do you think the best fish and chips in the UK are found in Yorkshire? It’s hard to pin down to one thing – but it’s the strong tradition, the mix of coastal and inland shops, definitely the pride, and more recently the high calibre of shops breeds even more quality competition. Who knows, it could even be the water for the batter!
Has a famous face from Yorkshire ever been to your chippy?
We’ve definitely had some Emmerdale guys in, Look North newsreader Clare Frisby was a regular for a while also!
Other than fish and chips what’s your other favourite Yorkshire food?
It’s got to be the fish patty – two slices of potato sandwiching haddock and coated in a batter, put in a bread cake with mushy peas, scraps and lashings of salt and vinegar, there isn’t a better lunch out there!
Will you be offering any specials on your menu to celebrate this Yorkshire day?
Just the classics as always, haddock and chips, Yorkshire fish cakes and Yorkshire caviar (mushy peas!).
